Class 5 Drivers Licence

Individuals who wish to reduce time in gaining a FULL CLASS 5 license, and already hold a Class 5 Leaner Licence, can do so by attending our Class 5 Licence Course, Individuals will be required to attend 2 days’ theory training before undertaking a practical driving assessment (NZTA requirement).

You must have your own Class 5 vehicle loaded to 50% of the GCM.

Our course is conducted as follows;

MUST HAVE:

  • New Zealand Class 5 learners licence
  • A Log Book
  • Have evidence of completing Log Book training (Unit Standard 24089)
  • Your own truck
  • Load on the truck - see above for details
  • All students are required to bring their National Student Number (NSN) with them to the course.  If you do not know the number you can contact the NZQA prior to attending the course, call 0800 697 296 Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.  Or contact them via their website New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and use the chat bot.

    If you haven't done a course in NZ you won't have a NSN, we will apply for one for you.  If you are having problems getting your NSN we can help you.

Day One:

Theory training covering Heavy Vehicle Dynamics, Loading, Hazard Recognition, etc. followed by a written assessment. 8am – 4pm.

Day Two:

Theory training covering Fatigue Management, and the use of Driver Logbooks. Individuals then complete 2 x written assessments. 8am – 4pm

Driving Assessment:

Individuals are required to undergo a 40 – 50 minute driving assessment, conducted during Day One or Two.

Cost:

$800 + GST (1 day course),

$950 + GST (2 day course),

$1,300 + GST (3 day course).

Duration:

8am – 4pm each day, or until assessments / driving assessment completed.

Certificate:

Successful individuals will receive a NZTA Driver License certificate, which they need to present to a License Testing Agency, in order to receive their FULL Class 5 License. (fee: $47-00 approx).

All NZQA credits are reported to the NZQA for recording on your Record of Achievement, once the course has been completed successfully.
